The temperature of your engine should not be too hot. Jack up your car using the jack and jack stands you have gathered. Locate the oil filter and drain plug, and put the pan underneath. Take out the drain plug and let the old oil drain, then replace the plug. Unscrew the dirty filter, wipe away old oil, add the new oil, and insert the clean filter. Run the car for 30 seconds and keep an eye out for leaks, and bring your car down from the jacks. Check the oil level with the dipstick. You are finished with your first oil change!
